dhregh-1

dhregh-1
    dhregh-1
    English meaning: to run
    Deutsche Übersetzung: “laufen”
Material: Arm. durgn, gen. drgan “potter’s wheel” (after Meillet BAL.-SLAV. 36, 122 from *dhr̥gh-); Gk. PedersenIF. 5, 56, Zup. KZ. 36, 57; O.Ir. droch “wheel” (*drogo-n); It shows in palatal whereas Ltv. drüžu, drüzu, drüzt “quick, fast run”, Lith. padróžti ds., but to say the least could be considered just as well as a variant in palatal besides dherügh- “pull, drag”. Yet are likewise Lith. (pa)dróžti as also Ltv. drüzt “ run quickly, fast “ identical with Lith. dróžti, Ltv. drüzt “carve” (see dhreĝ-). The primary meaning is “carve”. All numerous other interpretations are to be explained by casual use.
